PS4 Sales Gets A New Milestone; SIE Chairman Wants To Maintain The ‘Momentum’ Of The PS4

Sony’s successful PlayStation 4 home console has been the most beloved system in this generation. Spurring out great exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy, and Infamous: Second Son has proved its bar of quality beyond imagination.

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch (SIES) has announced that the sales figure has reached a new milestone! Selling over 70.6 million units worldwide as of December 3, 2017, is one impressive number. The big giant sold 617.8 million software sales from both digital and retail stores combined and with PlayStation VR selling more than 2 million units to consumers worldwide.

The PS4 has been invading houses for the past few years, and with upcoming first-party titles like Days Gone, The Last of Us Part II, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, and Ghost of Tsushima can entice non-PS4 owners to get one of their own.

“We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction,” said Andrew House, Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming network in the world. We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play.”
