Activision CEO: I Don’t Necessarily See World War II As A One-Off

In the recent years we have been saturated with tons of futuristic Call of Duty titles which became rather dull for some fans. But with our wish getting fulfilled, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have taken the route back to 1944. We might probably get more World War II-based titles from Call of Duty moving forward, but that’s still a possibility.

In an interview with GameInformer, Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg said that going back to World War II isn’t a “one-off” since it’s a setting that they can explore more than once. However, it’s also too early for Eric to reveal anything.

I can’t reveal things on the slate that are several years off, but no I don’t necessarily see it as a one-off; I think that World War II and historical settings more broadly are very rich territory, and I think there’s every possibility that that could become an area that we explore more than once.[/alert]

This means we might possibly see other iterations of World War II-based Call of Duty a year after.

Call of Duty WWII will be in another round of beta this weekend, but this time it will be across all platforms. The game is set to drop this November 3.
