E3 has just recently ended and Microsoft unveiled its newest take on the Xbox One, the Xbox One X. What is supposedly the most powerful console of its time, Xbox One X boasts native 4K and faster processing. I really didn’t understand all the technical stuff involved with it and I believe even the audience themselves were bored to death with all the technical hoopla.

They just wanted to see what games would be running on that console just like I did. But I’m not here to talk about the Xbox One X. I’m here to talk about why you should get the PS4 Pro over the Xbox One X. Here I list five reasons why buying a PS4 Pro is better in the long run.

PS4 Pro – $399

Xbox One X – $499

PS4 Pro sells at $100 lesser than a brand-new Xbox One X. That alone is enough reason for you to get the PS4 Pro especially if you are on a tight budget. Some would argue, you’re already saving for a brand-new console anyway why not wait till you get a $100 more? But real life isn’t just about saving for consoles, it’s also for saving for other things and life in general.

Sure you can wait for until you can save up to $499 but when you have the cash in hand and you’ve been itching to play, the appeal of a cheaper console is that much greater. Even if you do have the cash on hand, buying the PS4 Pro would mean you could use the $100 to buy games to play with your new console. I mean why buy a console if you don’t have games.

Game Content

This is really depending on your choice of game content. For me personally, I have always been a PlayStation guy. All the games I follow have been released on Playstation. Some may have gone the multiplatform route but the amount of exclusive content on the PS4 have always been plenty. It’s true that the PlayStation have yet to do a proper Backwards Compatibility feature but they have been diligent in bringing back all the most popular games and refurbishing them in spectacular graphics.

With the launch of Crash Bandicoot and Shadow of the Colossus in the horizon, there are so many games to look forward to exclusively on the PlayStation. PlayStation has always been about games with great single player stories and to me as a gamer that’s what appeals to me.

Tried and Tested

PS4 Pro is already out in the market while Xbox One X is still to come this November. We have no idea what issues we might encounter when the console launches. I would say if you’re really eyeing the Xbox One X wait for a year or so to see if any bugs and issues arise and get fixed. PS4 Pro on the other hand have been out for awhile and has little to no issues when it comes to performance. Buying a console that has already proven its performance is a good thing to have.

PlayStation Plus

PlayStation’s subscription based service has been around since the PS3. This subscription has seen the release of quite a few number of games for free on the platform. If you’ve been a PlayStation Plus subscriber since the PS3, then you probably have picked up the free games throughout the years even the ones on the PS4. It is a good way to stock up your library of digital games once you have decided to buy the PS4 Pro.

With AAA games being offered as free on PS Plus. The one edge that PS Plus has over Xbox Live Gold is the cloud save feature. You wouldn’t have to worry about transferring your save files if you were upgrading from a PS4 because you can just download them through the cloud save.

PS4 Pro was made to be compatible with PS Vita as well. This means that you can have portable gaming on the go with Playstation’s cross-play feature. You can even play games on your PC with it. A PS Vita could also be used as an extra controller for when you ever need one more player. The Playstation has a library of cross-play games that you can enjoy with your friends who already own the Vita.

These are just a few of the reasons I believe that someone should buy a PS4 Pro but in the end it’s still up to what your preferences are. You just have to keep in mind what type of gamer you are, what games you are planning to play and who you are planning to play them with. With these in mind, this will ultimately help you decide which console is best for you.

  • Malacath

The author needs to do research.

Cloud saves have been a feature of xbox one since the beginning. In fact it’s far superior on xbox one.

On xbox one cloud space is unlimited, free and automatic. Saves are automatically transferred between consoles without the user needed to do anything.

On PS4 you have to pay for a ps plus subscription, you only get about 10GB of space and you have to manually upload and download saves to get them on a different console. PS4 does have an automatic upload feature but that only works while the console is in rest mode.

PS4 free games on PS Plus are usually just indie games apart from this month where it’s actually quite decent. And the free ps3 games wont work on the ps4.
The free games with Xbox Live gold for instance are usually better especially as the free xbox 360 games also work on the xbox one.

As for cross play it’s been recently made known that Sony are against cross play with other consoles while Microsoft and Nintendo welcome it.

As someone who owns both consoles the only advantage ps4 currently has is more first party exclusives. So thats just one reason, not five

    • Telmo Alexandre

Until Dawn, NBA 2k16, Game of Thrones Telltale, Borderlands Telltale, Infamous First Light, Injustice God Among Us, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Driveclub, The Walking Dead: Season Two, Grim Fandango Remastered, Tropico 5, Zombi, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, Resident Evil, Transformers: Devastation, LittleBigPlanet 3, Life is Strange, Killing Floor 2 are just some examples…

Playstation features crossplay for years. Street Fighter V, Rocket League, Final Fantasy XIV,
Paragon, DC Universe Online, War Thunder, Dragon’s Dogma Online, among others.

Sony offered Microsoft crossplay years ago but it was refused because they were leading in console sales, now the tables are turned. May I remind you of Phil Spencer own words “…it is a competition, and I’ve said before I want to win”.

Now Microsoft being on the second position sees itself wanting crossplay. It’s a win-win for them because if Sony refuses then they’re seen as the bad guy, if they accept, Microsoft gets it’s way.
That’s incredible shady. When Sony offered them crossplay and they refused, Sony never used it as an excuse to put the blame on them. They went on and made more exclusives.

I’m sorry but the only reason you’ve gave that actually sets the two consoles apart is the cloud saving, but other than being automatic and unlimited cap, it’s not that relevant. 10GB is a lot, just for saves. I’ve got more than 40 games on it and haven’t even reach 3 GB.

It seems that you’re the one required to do some research.

    • Leif Rey Bornales

Hey thanks for the feedback, my bad on the cloud save feature. You definitely have a point there.

Sure, the price is the same as well right? And 3rd party exclusives are far more abundant and better quality in ps4.

Since when games like until dawn are indies?

      You sure sound very reliable!

      • Malacath

I did say this month was quite decent and I meant that because of Until Dawn which is one of the best ps4 exclusives out there. My point was the article is just rubbish. It’s supposed to make points that set it apart from xbox when it didn’t for most of them.

And before you go calling me a fanboy, I own ps3 , xbox 360, ps4 and xbox one. I can see the pros and cons of all the consoles. If one console does something better than the other I will say so. The only point of this article I agree with is more exclusives.

OK then! I cant see how you dont think 400 is better than 500 but you are in your right t only agree with one point!

FYI a person can have all systems and still be a faboy for one or two of them!

          • Malacath

Yes 400 is better than 500 but both consoles have different specs that make the price difference understandable

And yes a person owning multiple systems can be a bit of a fanboy to their favourite console but they are generally not blinded by their loyalty. If someone owns both a ps4 and xbox one they may have a favourite but they wont hate the other console. If they did hate it they wouldn’t own it.

Agreed, but a cheaper price is always an advantage as more powerful is another.

And being a fanboy doesn’t mean hate the competition necessarily, just to be bias can be enough!

  • Luis daniel Hernandez

    jajajajajajajajajaj WTF comparacion

  • Dark_Ronius

Even as a PS owner and fan, this article disappointed me. Nothing was mentioned about PSVR- let’s face it, the only feature the PS consoles truly have an advantage over Microsoft.

The only thing keeping me with my Playstation is the fact I already paid
for it years ago… Meanwhile Microsoft have shown a true commitment to
backwards compatibility (rather than solely re-selling games you
already own). And gone are the days when exclusives ruled the roost…
If anything, they seem to leave a sour taste in the mouth. In the days when it was Sega vs Nintendo, there was the genuine sense that the sonic games wouldn’t be possible with the Nintendo hardware (although maybe not because of “blast processing”). Even 3-D technology is reaching the point of limited returns… Now this is what the article could have focused more on. It’s at the point you can’t demonstrate power through a cutscene anymore… So you need to demonstrate it through silly amounts of statistics. This should be the reason people are cautious before dropping money on the XboneX.

In all honesty there is very little that differentiates the consoles these days… it has been the case for 6-7 years now.

    • Leif Rey Bornales

Hi thanks for the feedback! I do agree PSVR is worth mentioning but not necessarily PS4 Pro specific since you can buy a PSVR to go along with your PS4 but it can make a difference in quality if you have the Pro

  • mondaymurder23

Sony fan-girls from N$G is afraid to come here and comment becuase they dont have the mods to bad them up when they get into an argument they cant win lol.

Lol they have the most AAA exclusives!

      Keep your mods and indies!

      • Malacath

I don’t think thats what he meant by mods. I think he was referring to the fanboy moderators on n4g. That site is just toxic.

Ok then, thanks for the clarification!

      • mondaymurder23

1 i wasnt talking about mods you cant use but the ADMINS on N4SG god that site is so one sided but they are scared to come out in the open so we can have a nice talk that wont lead to any one getting ban

Ah! ok then! They do act very unreasonable.

  • Nathan O

“I have always been a PlayStation guy.”

Pretty much sums up the entire article

Oh right Andrew House said it’s competition with PC’s not XboxOneX lmfao I am dying how is that working bahahahahahahahaha

    • Malacath

You can’t judge how good a game is on the games art style. Also you can’t really compare the two games either. Horizon and Sea of Thieves are different genres

What upcoming xbonex game should you use? crackdown 3? state of decay 2? Luckys tale? or the other indies? the result is the same!

There is simply no xbox exclusive that can match Horizon’s characters!

        • Malacath

Yes Horizon Zero Dawn has good graphics even on the base ps4. I own the game, I like the game although if i’m honest I like Until Dawn better.
But you are simply in fanboy mode. The fact that you saw the need to make a comparison between that and Sea of Thieves just to defend your precious Sony is a bit sad. I’m quite sure if Sea of Thieves was instead a ps4 exclusive you would be singing it’s praises.

And why bring those other games up?
Again they are all different types of game to Horizon which is basically a cross between Farcry Primal and Enslaved

What an Underated game until dawn was!

You are wrong! I am a fan of graphics and I can’t stand graphics like sea of thieves in 2017. Like I can’t stand minecraft or knack!

Those were the easiest, but I could go and use uncharted 4, spiderman, God of War, Detroit vs Crackdown 3 por state of decay 2 and come up with the exact same result!

If I see that anthem (to name one) looks so much better on xbonex vs ps4 pro I’ll admit it! But as exclusives go, the ones MS has for the next 12 months wouldn’t look better than the ps4 ones even if they were on 16k. That is my point!

          • Malacath

So what you are saying is you judge games on graphics alone?

I judge them on gameplay. The original State of Decay was awesome but the graphics were shit. I could overlook the graphical glitches and other performance issues because the game was so good.
Also State of Decay 2 which is a game i’m really looking forward to because I like survival games and loved the original isn’t out until next year and all screens shown so far are early builds.
Crackdown has always had an unrealistic art style and Crackdown 3 wouldn’t look right if it had realistic graphics. Basically realistic graphics wouldn’t suit the game.

A game could have the best graphics in the world but if it doesn’t have the gameplay to match then in doesn’t matter.

As for Horizon. Yes it has fantastic graphics, even on the base ps4 but there are better games with inferior graphics.

I’ve actually had more fun playing games like Hitman, Infamous Second Son, Sunset Overdrive, Until Dawn, State of Decay and even Minecraft than I have playing Horizon. It’s just down to my personal taste. Horizon has copied too much from the Farcry games for it to stand out for me.

No, I didnt say that! The mere fact that you had to add the word ALONE means you already knew it.

I said that graphics matter to me more than what they do for other people. I have had a lot of fun with games with bad graphics, but there are some game I cant just watch, like minecraft! I dont care how fun it can be, It hurts my eyes just to look at it. But I still like the snes graphics (I will snach one if I can).

Yes, its down to personal taste, I enjoy a game for what it is and I dont care if some of its mechanics have been on other games, hell, jumping, shooting, hiding and punching was invented decades ago.

But my point was that, regardless of the taste you have, with ps4 exclusives you dont have to play fun games with bad garphics for the most part, cause they have the best graphics this gen. And that I think the xbonex is a great hardware thats being highly disrespected with the lineup MS has for it so far.

    • mondaymurder23

is the first one a woman or a shemale ? lol becuase at least the second pic has woman features

  • Martin Brentnall

Who needs five reasons when one will suffice? PS4 has far more and far better exclusives, and that’s enough reason alone to choose the PS4 Pro over the Xbox One X.

    • mondaymurder23

yeah just like PC has farrrr more exclusives than the PS4 you dont see me bragging and yes they are of a higher quality

      • Martin Brentnall

        Higher quality?

Uncharted, The Last of Us, Persona 5, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Yakuza 0, etc., etc.
